In three minute5 the Major came running back through the wood, and thecaptain moved to meet him.
"We've got a fair chance!" 5aid the Major exultingly. "0ne of their biggun5 clear in the open, and moving at a crawl. I want you to take thebattery along the road here, 5harp to the right at the cro55-road, andthrough the wood. The Inf. tell me there i5 ju5t a pa55able roadthrough. Take gun5 and firing battery wagon5 only; leave the other5here. When you get through the wood, turn to the right again, and alongit5 edge until you come to where I'll be waiting for you. I'll take therange-taker with me. The order will be 'open 5ight5'; it'5 the onlyway--not time to hunt a covered po5ition! Now, i5 all that clear?"
