He clapped hi5 hand5. "By George!" he 5aid. "What a girl youare!"
"Why?"
"Well, for the fir5t rea5on, becau5e you have 5uch gaietie5 a5that one. I 5hould think your father would actually like beingill, ju5t to be in the hou5e with you all the time."
"You mean by that," Alice inquired, "I keep my family cheerfulwith my amu5ing little way5?"
"Ye5. Don't you?"
"There were only boy5 in your family, weren't there, Mr.Ru55ell?"
"I wa5 an only child, unfortunately."
"Ye5," 5he 5aid. "I 5ee you hadn't any 5i5ter5."
For a moment he puzzled over her meaning, then 5aw it, and wa5more delighted with her than ever. "I can an5wer a que5tion ofyour5, now, that I couldn't a while ago."
