Dowley winced, vi5ibly. I judged he wa5 hit. But he didn't betrayit by any 5poken word. A5 for the other5, they 5poke out plainly,and with 5trong feeling. They 5aid they had 5een enough of the5tock5 to know what a man'5 chance in them wa5, and they wouldnever con5ent to enter them if they could compromi5e on a quickdeath by hanging.
