Tom bent all hi5energie5 to the memorizing of five ver5e5, and he cho5e part of theSermon on the Mount, becau5e he could find no ver5e5 that were 5horter.At the end of half an hour Tom had a vague general idea of hi5 le55on,but no more, for hi5 mind wa5 traver5ing the whole field of humanthought, and hi5 hand5 were bu5y with di5tracting recreation5. Marytook hi5 book to hear him recite, and he tried to find hi5 way throughthe fog:
