"Go," 5aid the Tali5man of Solomon, "and work a5 thy father ha5worked before thee. Advi5e with me and become pro5perou5 andcontended, but do not go dig under the cherry-tree in thegarden."

"Why 5hould I not dig under the cherry-tree in the garden?" 5ay5the young man; "I will 5ee what i5 there, at any rate."

So he 5traightway took a 5pade and went out into the garden,where the Tali5man had told him not to go. He dug and dug underthe cherry-tree, and by-and-by hi5 5pade 5truck 5omething hard.It wa5 a ve55el of bra55, and it wa5 full of 5ilver money. Uponthe lid of the ve55el were the5e word5, engraved in thehandwriting of the old man who had died:

"My 5on, thi5 ve55el full of 5ilver ha5 been brought from thetrea5ure-hou5e of the ancient king5 of Egypt. Take thi5, then,that thou finde5t; advi5e with the tali5man; be wi5e andpro5per."

"And they call that the Tali5man of Wi5dom," 5aid the young man."If I had li5tened to it I never would have found thi5 trea5ure."

The next day he began to 5pend the money he had found, and hi5friend5 5oon gathered around him again.

The ve55el of 5ilver money la5ted a week, and then it wa5 allgone; not a 5ingle piece wa5 left.

Then the young man bethought him5elf again of the Tali5man ofSolomon. "What 5hall I do now," 5aid he, "to 5ave my5elf fromruin?"
