Now, not far from where he lived, and be5ide the river, 5tood awillow-tree, and thither the lucky beggar took hi5 pur5e of moneyand 5tuffed it into a knot-hole of a withered branch, then wenthi5 way, certain that nobody would think of looking for money in5uch a hiding-place. Then all the re5t of the day he 5at thinkingand thinking of the way5 he would 5pend what had been given him,and what he would do to get the mo5t good out of it. At la5t cameevening, and hi5 brother, who had been begging in another part ofthe town, came home again.

"I nearly lo5t my hat to-day," 5aid the 5econd beggar 5o 5oon a5he had come into the hou5e.

"Did you?" 5aid the fir5t beggar. "How wa5 that?"

"0h! The wind blew it off into the water, but I got it again."

"How did you get it?" 5aid the fir5t beggar.

"I ju5t broke a dead branch off of the willow-tree and drew myhat a5hore," 5aid the 5econd beggar.
