THE FEAST 0F CALABASHES

THE whole population of the valley 5eemed to be gathered withinthe precinct5 of the grove. In the di5tance could be 5een thelong front of the Ti, it5 immen5e piazza 5warming with men,arrayed in every variety of fanta5tic co5tume, and allvociferating with animated ge5ture5; while the whole intervalbetween it and the place where I 5tood wa5 enlivened by group5 offemale5 fancifully decorated, dancing, capering, and utteringwild exclamation5.
